Children of Men Film opening
06:24This movie is set in 2027.
We can compare this from the location and setting. London in 2027 and London now have many things that is different, such as:
London now is not that dirty, not much pollution, clean and doesn't look like China (globalisation) culture. City is untreated and full of people but still looks lonely and sad.
We can see that it is new-age because the television which is more like flat back and the advertisement.
What shows that he is a protagonist?
We can see that he is the last one out of the coffee shop before the coffee shop explode, he is the only witness. The scene when he walks in and out of the shop he seems careless this is because he is familiar with this world of crime and death. The other reason that he seem careless is that he may lost his hope because the youngest children die which is aged 18 so there may be a problem of why they can't have a baby. When he walks into the centre he is the only one moving and buying coffee where everybody is standing in silent listening to the news. His face is expressionless and ordering black coffee means that he is a harsh person. After coming out of the shop he put in alcohol into his coffee, it can means that he is broken somewhere inside and he drinks it to just forget everything in the pass. He can't deal with alcohol and can't deal with coffee it self so he mixed it together.
Camera angle
The other reason is that when the movie is started, he walks into the centre of the shop where camera follows him which is a match on action. There are limited cuts because as we can see from the video it is more like the camera follows him from when he comes in and after the explosion.
Enigma/Question :
- Why can't they have baby?
- Why is the war going on?
-Why did the shop bomb?
- Why doesn't he care?
- Why did everybody else care?
- Why is it the target?
